Diamond Hands | Short Russell

June 8, 2021 in Trade Recap

I’ve said for over a decade that the Russell 2000 Index (Futures Symbol: RTY) is the pot-limit Omaha of trading. It’s so fun to play, yet frustrating the entire time.   It’s easy for a position to go from first to worst, often in a matter of minutes.  The dreaded river changes everything.

Fortunately, trading is not the same as the binary outcome of a single hand of Omaha, so when you’ve got a strong hand, and proper bankroll management, you can wait for the math to work in your favor. Over the past few weeks, we’re seeing the RTY lead the stock indices, approaching the all-time highs from early in the year.  Part of the narrative in this leg higher is around the Wall Street Bet stocks, including GME and AMC, requiring hedging in the Russell.

When is this game or movie over? I’ve got no edge there.  All I can do is believe in the math, mean reversion, proper entries, and my DIAMOND SHORT HANDS!  ?

Trading Week Ahead | June Boom or Gloom?

June 1, 2021 in Watch We're Watching

We’re looking at another sleepy start to the week, though more of the to-be-expected variety given the holiday. Stock indices are sharply unchanged from the modest drift lower Monday.  Crypto remains range bound, not signaling anything for risk appetites leading into one of the seasonally worst performing months for stocks.

On tap this shortened trading week, we’ve got an OPEC meeting Tuesday, Beige Book Wednesday, FOMC on Friday, and Powell speaking at a conference Friday as well.

Aside from the norm, I’ll be more focused in the ProTrading Room (PTR) on a few prop programs (TopStep & UProfit) in preparation for the relaunch of my Virtual Prop Trader (VPT Live) mini-course.

And if you missed it on Telegram, Discord, or YouTube, there may be time left to grab one of the crazy good deals at Earn2Trade or UProfit, offering 40% and 50% off monthly subscriptions respectively.  Also, trade journal Tradersync has a 50% off sale running through tonight too.  Everything expires today, Monday May 31st so hurry!
